This map tells us whether a country has national or sub-national-level policies or legislation prohibiting smoking tobacco products in health-care facilities.

- Health-care facilities include all publicly and privately managed places where health-care is provided outside of private homes.
- These estimates do not include laws that prohibit tobacco smoking only in hospitals, as those laws are not considered to be comprehensive.
- However, health-care facilities may make exceptions for enclosed rooms in psychiatric or long-term care facilities (i.e., nursing homes).
